ENGAGE Rochester is based on the belief that if small and medium sized business owners were to grow the value of their business, the chances are very good, they would both reinvest and hire new employees. Because of this belief, there is value in creating a community wide index that measures the value growth of small to medium size business (SMB). ENGAGE Rochester is the engine that measures the value growth, and aggregates the data, to create that community-wide index.

About Mary Coombs
Mary is a Partner in Coombs Marketing, LLC. She's an experienced marketer with specific expertise in brand development, inbound sales and marketing strategy, campaigns, online lead generation and event management. Mary led the marketing teams for large marketing and branding initiatives at Eastman Kodak Company, Xerox Corporation, Duke Power Business Services, Duke Energy, and Toshiba Medical Systems, among others. Mary has earned certification in the Inbound Methodology, HubSpot Tool, and Coombs Marketing a Certified HubSpot Partner. She brings a unique sales, marketing and leadership experience and prospective to her client’s projects.
Mary and her husband Michael co-founded Coombs Productions, Inc in 1986 and developed it into a successful marketing agency, Coombs Marketing, which has been recognized on the Fortune 500 list of fastest-growing privately held businesses. Since the partnership of Coombs, she has earned a number of marketing, branding, web, and business television awards, and consulting contracts.
Mary graduated from St. John Fisher College and resides in Charlotte, NC with her family.
About Derek Vanderlinde
Derek began his thirty-five year career in business after receiving a BA and MBA from Columbia University. He spent seven years in Corporate Finance at Drexel Burnham Lambert in New York City working in mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, public offerings and consulting. In 1977 he returned to Rochester where he became CEO of a family business that produced average revenues of $10,000,000 and executed commercial and industrial electrical contracting projects throughout the eastern half of the U.S.
In 2004, Derek decided to pursue a passion that he has had for years and became a Principal of the CEOHQ Fellows organization.
Currently, Derek is a Sr. Facilitator for an Executive Forums of Upstate NY Group of CEOs.
Derek also has extensive experience as a board member in the not-for-profit sector where he currently serves on the boards of The Susan B. Anthony House and The Mt. Hope Family Center and has served in the past on The Allendale Columbia School (Chair) and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra boards.
